Faces Series - A Vision Of Self In Time
Enjoy Kimberley's first ever series below. Kimberley's love for faces and fashion led her to embark on a personal project of painting 10 portraits, each representing a moment in her life. Through her art, she explores the complex emotions and evolution of the self over time, inviting viewers to interpret the message in each face.
"Growing up, I adored the fashion models on my Grandma's vintage sewing patterns from the 60's and 70's, with their chic styles and hair. As I entered my 20s, I progressed to drawing faces and figures, even creating my own clothing items with a trusty sewing machine.
In 2022, I embarked on a 12-month project to paint a series of 10 faces, allowing my heart and surroundings to lead my creative process. Each portrait is named to reflect my experience, pinpointing my emotions and mood in that precise moment.
The first four paintings, inspired by the daily spectacle of San Diego's sunset, may seem extraterrestrial, but to me, they evoke the feeling of humans gazing up at unknown visitors.
Looking back on these paintings, I'm reminded of the ups and downs of life, the passage of time, and our unceasing evolution.
