About US
From a young age, Kimberley drew inspiration from her parents' creative talents. Her father's skills in design and painting and business owner, ignited her passion, leading to countless hours spent at his drafting table. During her teenage years, she explored drawing, painting, jewelry making, and sewing.
In her 20s, Kimberley completed a diploma in Graphic Communications and Advertising at George Brown College in Toronto, Canada where she honed her design and illustration expertise and gained valuable information about marketing, advertising and branding. In later years, she worked 8 years in a Long-Term Care home, where she served as the admissions coordinator supporting the home in increasing occupancy and marketing efforts, bringing the community into the home and acting as a 'brand ambassador" being a strong liaison for the home. She assisted families as they transitioned into the home. During that time, she also took on the role of Activity Director, managing the activation department with 13 staff and gaining a deep understanding of senior programs and managing teams. |
Subsequently, Kimberley ventured into an Account Executive position at a Real Estate Marketing company, further expanding her knowledge of marketing with high level clients and agencies. However, her passion for seniors remained a calling, leading her to establish Young at Heart Painting in 2018. This initiative provided painting events for residents living in Retirement and Long-Term Care homes and received recognition with a 2nd-place finish in the Social Innovation Challenge with the City of Vaughan in Ontario, Canada.
During the pandemic, Young at Heart Painting had to pause its doors and pivot and offered corporate virtual events such as virtual wine tastings, beer tasting, mixology and virtual paint nights, fostering continued connections across Canada - which was really needed. They were able to reach seniors homes with virtual sessions too.
In 2023, the City of York Region in Ontario, Canada awarded the company a grant, allowing them to bring more artists to the team and ultimately, reach more seniors. Watch the interview here. |
Today, Young at Heart Painting has reached over 10,000 seniors and implemented their specialized 'paint and sip' style painting sessions in companies across Canada and the USA bringing connection and purpose to seniors working closely with 10 artists across Ontario, Canada and San Diego, California. Young at Heart Painting also provides staff and teams events to nursing staff and outside companies, providing a way to support staff morale and relationship building.
Kimberley has published a workbook and journal titled "My Life By Design, The Ultimate Transformational Journal and Workbook" (FOUND HERE) teaches people how to use journaling as a tool to support their mental health and wellbeing. She has hosted over 50 virtual group journaling sessions, focusing on bringing people together and providing an outlet for empowerment, positivity and transformation.
