Faces Series - A Vision Of Self In TimeKimberley's love for faces and fashion led her to embark on a personal project of painting portraits, each representing a moment in her life. Through this series, she explores the complex emotions and evolution of the self over time, inviting viewers to interpret the message in each face.
"Growing up, I adored the fashion models on my Grandma's vintage sewing patterns from the 60's and 70's, with their chic styles and hair. As I entered my 20s, I began drawing faces and figures, even creating my own clothing items with a trusty sewing machine." In January 2022, Kimberley embarked on a 12-month project to paint a series of faces, allowing my heart and surroundings to lead her creative process. Each portrait is named to reflect her experience, pinpointing her emotions and mood in that precise moment. Her love for painting these faces continued after 12 months, allowing her to continue to express herself through art. |
The first four paintings are inspired by the daily spectacle of San Diego's sunset, may seem extraterrestrial, but to her, they evoke the feeling of humans gazing up at unknown visitors. Looking at these paintings, she is reminded of the ups and downs of life, the passage of time, and our unceasing evolution. Click on each painting to read more. Enjoy!
