Power

​This one is called “Power”. Just when you thought you had no control, you stepped back into your power. But this time, even more powerful than before. I chose this look and colour tones because that famous song came on from the new movie Wednesday (a spin from The Adams Family). The song is called Bloody Mary by Lady Gaga and the dance went viral on TiTok.  

​I really wanted to paint something moody, strong and powerful, Un-messable.

 when you think you can't see the light, there it is, We have persevered. I really wanted to do something in all one colour, so I chose variations of blue. Something I never do as most of my work is in bold, bright, multiple colours. I used a Pasco pen for the white highlights and black lines. She's so boss!

She has to be strong when Jesus fulfills the prophecy to die for everyone’s sins, but she still has the moment of humanity where she’s upset to let him go. She had to be a superstar, but she must have cried too.”
Gaga sings as Magdalene in the song, witnessing the crucifixion of Jesus. Playing the “ultimate rockstar’s girlfriend,” she chooses to focus on the love he spread in the world as opposed to the tragedy before her. 
Despite her grief, she promises to pick up that mantle and spread love in her own way: drying her tears and dancing through the night.
