This is a painting of the oldest tree in Aurora, Ont. This Bur Oak tree in Lambert Willson Park in Aurora, Ontario, Canada is 180 years old and measures over 75 feet high.
This tree has been around and survived many many years and has a "connection to the universe" Mr. Smith says. The artist thought, what if you could stand under the tree and connect to the universe, maybe you could ask it something?
Mr Smith has an ongoing passion for taking photos on his travels and outdoor walks and carefully chooses the best composition to paint from. You'll notice a small blue jay in the bottom right corner which represents all things living. As you'll notice in most of his work, he will add a subject of an animal or something living to bring it to life.
His goal is to paint this tree as a series and one day have his painting hung in the Aurora Town Hall located close by.
In this acrylic painting and he used glaze to darken the shadows and darken certain areas.
